It was a Tuesday morning in November 2022. My sister called from Portland, Oregon - frustrated and a little heartbroken. She had been searching every grocery store, every specialty coffee shop, every online retailer she could find.

"I just want my Texas Pecan," she said. "I can't find it anywhere up here."

She had moved to Portland two years earlier for a job opportunity. She loved her new city. But every morning, she missed that familiar nutty, warm aroma of HEB Café Olé brewing in her kitchen. It was the smell of home.

Juan Seguín was a Tejano patriot who fought alongside Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto — one of the few Tejanos to serve as an officer in the Texas Army. He later served as Mayor of San Antonio. The city of Seguin, Texas bears his name to this day.

Seguín is our family name. We are his descendants. That heritage isn't something we adopted or borrowed — it's who we are. And it shapes everything about how we do business: with pride in Texas, respect for its full history, and the belief that this state belongs to everyone who loves it, regardless of where they were born or where they live now.
